My Sisters Tears

Until it affects someone we love,

We don’t even know it’s there.

It’s really not our problem,

So why should we care?

The facts are quite shocking,

One in four they say

Will suffer from depression

In their lives one day.

There’s hardly a scar anymore

For this serious mental flaw.

But no one knows where it will strike next,

It’s just the luck of the draw I suppose.

No one would choose to live with it,

And some don’t even try.

I see my sister suffering

And all she can do is cry.

Most people would turn the other way,

They’ve been doing it for years.

But I must face the pain I see,

In my sisters tears.

Waiting for dad

I sit alone in the darkness

Waiting…

Waiting for him to come back to me.

Can he hear my cries?

Can he feel my tears?

Can he sense my breaking heart?

I guess God only knows such a fact.

How can this be that he can’t see me?

Is it because I’m sitting alone in the darkness again?

I just walk past everyone as if I don’t even exist.

Can he see me now?

Can he see the pain he’s caused me?

Or does he look past it?

I think I should just move on now,

But something tells me I should wait.

It’s my heart that’s talking.

I’ll give him another chance.

All he needs to do is prove his love to me.

I’ll just return to sitting alone in the darkness…

Yes I’ll go become an engineer like everyone else.

Yes I’ll give up on my dreams since they’re stupid.

Is that what it will take to get a ‘Yes’ around here!?
