Outside In

Outside lives a girl whose smile brightens up the room,

Yet inside she hides a frown full of despair.

Outside lives a girl with joyful eyes that bring you to ease,

Yet inside she hides tears of sadness.

Outside lives a girl with the most beautiful laugh that’s contagious,

Yet inside she hides the fact that she screams her lungs out in unwanted anger.

Outside lives a girl with the personality everyone envies,

Yet inside she hides a girl full of insecurities and shame.

Outside lives a girl who is tough and has no fear,

Yet inside she hides a weak girl who lives in fear.

Outside lives a girl full of life,

Yet inside she hides a girl full of pain, wanting to die.

Outside lives a girl with the perfect image,

Yet inside she hides her regrets and mistakes.

Outside lives a girl full of innocence,

Yet inside she hides tremendous guilt.

Outside lives a girl with goals and dreams,

Yet inside she hides a girl lost in confusion.

What you see on the outside is just my mask.

What hides beneath it is something you can’t even begin to imagine.
